A BBC Look East news report on the Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre.

A little over a year after its opening, BBC East visits Milton Keynes' £46 million shopping complex. Bathed in natural light thanks to huge windows and high glass ceilings, the centre consists of two large avenues joined by a series of smaller malls, and contains a wide selection of stores set to serve Milton Keynes' growing population for years to come. Interviewed by a BBC East correspondent, David Crewe - Information Director for the Milton Keynes Development Corporation - discusses the planning process, including studies of shopping facilities in continental Europe and North America, and claims this new development to be the first of its kind in the United Kingdom. Also interviewed are representatives from two key traders, Woolworths and British Home Stores.
