BBC Television footage of Eric Morecambe at the official opening of a respite house for handicapped children.
Eric Morecambe, as guest of honour, attends the opening ceremony of Russell House, holiday accommodation for mentally handicapped children and their families. Eric unveils a plaque that marks his attendance at the event, and in typical fashion, jokes with the crowd of spectators, before handing over an oversized emblematic key to a representative of the charity. A representive for the St Albans & District Society for Mentally Handicapped Children explains the purpose of the home by the sea, aimed to give respite to handicapped children and their families. Eric Morecambe signs autographs and chats with guests in the garden of the property, and is interviewed about his involvement with the charity, before driving away chauffeur-driven in his Rolls Royce.
