Aspley Protest

Cat no. 215447
BBC Look East news report from Aspley Heath on the protests against the mining of Fuller's Earth by local residents.
A news report from Aspley Heath about Fuller’s Earth, a clay-like mineral that forms part of the landscape, and the proposals by the Steetley Company to mine for the substance. Members of the community gather, objecting to the proposal to mine for Fuller’s Earth at Aspley Heath Woods. A spokesperson for the public protest argues the mining will cause a great noise and disturbance to Aspley’s residents and to the wildlife and natural habitat at the woods. Protesters have been invited to inspect the work of the Steetley company hoping to mine at Aspley Heath, however the invitation is not extended to representatives of the media. The BBC reporter approaches the site asking why this is the case, and presents a final piece to camera stating the company refuse to make comment at all until the public enquiry has taken place.
