The production of the Kentish Times group of local newspapers.

Presented by Kentish Times Ltd., this film highlights the production of local newspapers in north west Kent (later part of Greater London), published under the Kentish Times banner in Beckenham, Bromley, Eltham, Orpington, Bexleyheath, Erith, Chislehurst and Dartford, as well as the company's headquarters in Sidcup. Tracing the production of a story about a local council worker who donated £50 to a church restoration fund in Chislehurst, the film tracks the entire process of newspaper production, from reporters collecting and writing stories, to sub-editing, layout, typesetting and proofing. A similar process is followed for advertisements and photographs, as special correspondents file stories on motoring, women's interest, the arts and sport. Each story is checked and double-checked in the 'reviser's room', before all the elements converge as typeset stories, metal-engraved photographic plates and advertisements are arranged onto pages and cast on semi-circular printing sheets for use in high-speed rotary printers. Once produced, the paper is in the capable hands of the circulation department, as bundles of newspapers are packed for delivery and distribution, allowing all the news of North west Kent to reach its people.
