Anglia Television news report from the Fisherman's Hospital in Great Yarmouth's Market Square.

At Great Yarmouth, a market trader tries his persuasive patter on the shoppers that are crowded round his market stall. John McGregor reports for Anglia Television from the seaside town showing the early eighteenth century Almshouses – homes for retired fishermen and their families – situated on the Market Square. Interview with the wife of a retired fisherman. Does she like living at the Almshouse? Does she think the Government provides sufficiently for old age pensioners today? The elderly lady talks affectionately about her family, and about the way of life of a fisherman – removing her false teeth midway through the conversation making it easier for her to speak. John McGregor interviews several of the retired gentlemen living at the Fisherman’s hospital. These men of the sea discuss their life and chosen profession, giving anecdotes, including one man who insists that wearing his earrings enables him to see much better.
