Carnival of Queens at Maldon

1962 , Maldon (Essex)

An Anglia Television mute news report on a parade of Carnival Queens in Essex.

Carnival Queens from around the region and across the country converge on the Essex town of Maldon for a mass parade. Girls from carnivals as far afield as Danby in Yorkshire, as well as local Queens from Romford and Chelmsford, pass in their floats, waving to the crowds. Invited guests and dignitaries watch from a balcony, where Mayors, Councillors and their wives wave to the girls below. The item concludes with a trio of dancing Pearly King and Queens.
