When a catastrophic accident leaves a woman clinging to a church spire, there's only one man that can help.

Trick film widely credited to Percy Stow, but arguably made by Hertfordshire-based film pioneer Arthur Melbourne-Cooper, depicting the ingenious rescue of a maiden in distress. When a bicycling accident on a country lane sends a young woman high into the air, she opens an umbrella and begins floating back to Earth. But when her descent is interrupted by a church spire, it's left to an eccentric inventor and his fantastic flying machine to bring her safely back to solid ground and reunite her with her male companion.

Background Information

The provenance of this film seems to be in some dispute. The BFI Film and Television database and the Internet Movie Database both list the film as being a 1906 work by Percy Stow and the Clarendon Film Company, but supporters of Arthur Melbourne-Cooper (including Tjitte De Vries and Ati Mul) suggest that the film was produced by AMC in 1904.
