Anglia television news report on the thirteenth Hintlesham Summer Festival, featuring an interview with organiser Anthony Stokes.

In the grounds of the great hall (a 16th century Grade I listed building) Chris Kelly interviews Mr Stokes; a small amphitheatre can be seen behind them, and gardeners tidy the hedges. Mr Stokes is congratulated on programming a successful 13th season, and discusses the festival’s increasing demographic, before humbly acknowledging the eccentric character for which he is fondly known.

A history of Hintlesham Hall; ownership and uses cited from http://www.hintleshamhall.co.uk/the_hall_and_associations.htm When baronet Sir Gerald Ryan died Hintlesham Hall became the home of Mr Anthony Stokes, a director of the big Ipswich engineering firm, Ransome & Rapier. His brother Richard (Dick) was chairman and managing director of Ransome and Rapier and also, Labour M.P. for Ipswich during World War II, and a Privy Councillor. Anthony Stokes established the music festival at the Hall, with an amphitheatre on the site of the present fine pond. During the 2nd World War, Mr Stokes moved into Rose Cottage and the Red Cross took over the Hall. Under Matron Hunter and her V.A.D. nurses, it became a convalescent home for servicemen. Ransome and Rapier were based in Ipswich, they were a major British producer of agricultural machinery.
