A man's love is tested in a drama by amateur filmmaker and cinema historian H.A.V. Bulleid.

Beneath ominous storm clouds, the recently engaged Ann Lister (Winifred Poyser) and Bob Randle (Harry Ellis) argue about their ideas of marital bliss - she wants a house in town, he prefers a country cottage. As the argument reaches its peak, Ann removes her engagement ring, and hands it back to Bob, who walks away, crestfallen. Visiting Amelia - "a very modern girl with very modern ideas about love" - Ann admits that she broke off the engagement in an attempt to find out if Bob really loves her. Following a series of encounters in the street, Ann hatches a plan to become the leading lady opposite Bob in a new theatrical production. But will their love survive the ultimate test?

Ann's friend Amelia was a very modern girl with very modern ideas about LOVE...... "I had to break off the engagement, to find out if he really loves me." "Quite right, dear - - but you'll have to play boldly to get him back." Mrs. Phyllis ffoulkes-ffotheringay was trying to organise a play, to assist a local charity. "I'm SO glad you promised to act in our little play, Mr. Randle." "This is Mr. Lee, who is producing the play, - Mr. Bob Randle---" "You'll be O.K. for the leading part. Rehearsal at 2:30 to-morrow. One Clarence Conk is to be the 'comedy-relief'." "Clarence, this is Mr. Bob Randle, --- our leading man." "I was just saying, -- your comic part will be as easy as falling over a log." "It's all fixed up;--- I'm to play the leading part, opposite Bob." The next day - 2:30. All set for the Rehearsal..... "By the way, -- who's the leading lady?" "That's the snag. I just don't know. Mrs. ff-ff has fixed it. The girl's due here at 2:30. I only hope she'll be O.K." "We're rehearsing here because the play's to be done here;-- they'll hire a marquee for the actual occasion." "And, in any case, I couldn't have got any decent photos indoors." [Letter] "Bearer is your leading lady -- Miss Ann Lister. Yours, phphyllis ffoulkes-ffotheringay." "Miss Ann Lister, --- Mr. Bob Randle." "You all understand? - Right, we'll just do that bit." "I hear someone coming....." "I HEAR SOMEONE COMING ---" "Put some PASSION into it......" "There's no film in the camera." "I spent half the afternoon smacking his face, and the other half kissing him!!!" "A most satisfactory afternoon; you'll have him back again within the week." That night....... "I feel that the play is going to be a great success." The End.
