Travels of the Yacht 'Elver' on the Essex coast and on a trip to the Netherlands
One of a series of films recording the travels of the schooner Elver, her owner V.B. Harrison, crew and guests. Scenes are shot from the Elver including adjustment of sails, sea, waves, buoys, coastline and passing boats, sometimes close enough to see crew in detail. This reel is in colour throughout. Scenes include: sunrise with shrimp boats; guests on the Elver and yachts White Rose and Chittabob; Clacton pleasure trip boats; Susan helping on board. On a trip to the Netherlands, scenes of the Harwich to Flushing ferry, light vessels and rainbows in the Channel, shipping at Flushing, the approach to Middelburg and to Veere, waiting at locks, a barge with horses and cattle closely packed on deck, barges and yachts around Zeeland, sailing in a gale, Hellevoetsluis, Rotterdam with shipping including harbour ferries and a 3,000 ton lighter pulled by a tug, and entrance to the Royal Maas Yacht Club.
