Travels of the Yacht 'Elver' on the Essex and Suffolk coast
One of a series of films recording the travels of the schooner Elver, her owner V.B. Harrison, crew and guests. Scenes are shot from the Elver including adjustment of sails, sea, waves, buoys, coastline and passing boats, sometimes close enough to see crew in detail. Scenes include: Elver filmed from Elaine; men and women aboard Elaine; the two yachts racing; ships in the Blackwater; a water skier towed behind a motor boat in the scene of the Elver’s dinghy; West Mersea shore seen from the yacht; loading up a car NH9079 after a trip; a paddle steamer and yachts on the River Orwell; sailing into spray in windy weather (causing spots on image); going ashore in the dinghy.
