Travels of the Yacht 'Elver' on the Essex coast and on a trip to the Netherlands and Belgium
One of a series of films recording the travels of the schooner Elver, her owner V.B. Harrison, crew and guests. Scenes are shot from the Elver including adjustment of sails, sea, waves, buoys, coastline and passing boats, sometimes close enough to see crew in detail. Scenes include: Leaving Antwerp harbour and Channel crossing to Essex; Brightlingsea including beach huts; small yachts racing at West Mersea; children John and Susan on board (Dufaycolor with damage – loss of emulsion); Pin Mill seen from the yacht, paddle steamers, yachts Amasis and Tamesis, efforts to move Elver off a sandbank; L.P. New and two ladies leave in the dinghy (one appears unwilling to be filmed); bow waves.
