Travels of the Yacht 'Elver' on the Essex coast and on a trip to the Netherlands
One of a series of films recording the travels of the schooner Elver, her owner V.B. Harrison, crew and guests. Scenes are shot from the Elver including adjustment of sails, sea, waves, buoys, coastline and passing boats, sometimes close enough to see crew in detail. Scenes include: On a trip to the Netherlands through Rotterdam, Willemsdorp and Flushing, railway trains crossing bridges including the streamlined Flying Dutchman, a tour aboard the new yacht of the Shah of Persia with the designer Mr De Vooght of Haarlem, the Royal Maas Yacht Club in Rotterdam, the lifting of a large bridge on the Oude Maas for the yacht to pass through, fishing boats, manning the mast of a sailing ship at the Royal Naval College, Flushing; Channel crossing by night past lightships; view of Brightlingsea from the yacht; racing at West Mersea Regatta and Elver decorated with flags for the occasion.
