Crime Drama (title on can: Home Movie)

Amateur drama of attempted kidnap and rescue in the countryside near Oxford.

The film does not have a title or credits, and the only information written on the can is 'home movie'. It is an amateur crime drama filmed in and around Oxford. On the city streets, a man approaches the camera apparently holding a gun. Another man with a pipe approaches him and talks in his ear, gesturing to a nearby building. They are joined by a third man. A man and woman leave a building and get into a car PD 1321. They snuggle together while driving along a country lane. Four men are gathered at a gate, plotting. They hide behind the bare winter hedge. The couple in their car approach along the lane where snow lingers on the verges. One man lies in the road as if injured. The driver goes to his rescue and is overcome, and tied with his scarf to a roadside post. The woman is carried unconscious into the rascals’ car JO 1603. They rifle through her purse and find a document of interest (shown in close-up but difficult to read). They pile into the car and set off. A man walking along the lane is passed by a horse and wagon, then spots the couple’s empty car. He unties the victim and supports him to his car. Together they take off in pursuit. The rascals stop at a signpost for directions. The sign appears to indicate Worton, Islip and Oxford. The pursuers catch up, fight and overcome the rascals who have guns. The precious document is recovered from the thief’s pocket. The couple celebrate with a kiss.
