A film by Philip Wayre, naturalist and conservationist, observing the activity of the wild birds, animals, and flowers that inhabit the Norfolk Broads, throughout the four seasons of the year.

Its summertime; music streams from Hickling’s Pleasure Boat Inn, boats stand on the broads waterway, and the occasional holidaymaker relaxes in the sun, oblivious to the hive of wildlife activity that occurs in the reed beds and natural Broads environment. Russell Sewell, a reed cutter, travels along the waterway in a Norfolk punt and sets to work, cutting and clearing reeds from the waterbed, mindful not to disturb the creatures that inhabit the area. Philip Wayre documents the wild flowers, birds and animals that call the Broads their home, observing the activity of different species - throughout Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn - with commentary noting the natural predators, prey, nurturing practices, and battles with seasonal elements that the animals must overcome.
