A collection of home movies shot by Charles Scott during the 1930s.
Home movies, shot by amateur filmmaker Charles Scott during the 1930s. A picnic in Earlham Park, Norwich hosted by 'Charles Will Hay', where Scott's family and friends jump rope and hold sprints and piggyback races. Elsewhere, two men are shown playing billiards, followed by a sequence showing a boat which has run aground close to shore. Scott visits Lowestoft, where the fisher girls are at work, gutting the fish pulled ashore by the men, which are then boxed for market. Also featured is a trip to the lighthouse and picturesque white cottages of Lizard Point, on the Cornish cliffs, and shots of a pair of young boys locked in a boxing match, followed by brief shots of pear blossoms, swans, and a working horse pulling a railway cart. Milking time on a dairy farm is shown, as well as a hunting pack, roof thatching at North Pickenham and a succession of old houses in Suffolk. A visit to the village of Kersey in Suffolk is followed by shots of horses pulling ploughs and harvesters, and a group of bakers at work. The film concludes with a boy playing the piano whilst a pair of women sit and listen, as well as donkey rides at the seaside, a pack of horses and a sunset finale.
