Amateur filmmaker Charles Scott takes the viewer on a magazine-style journey across East Anglia.

Charles Scott's magazine-style journey through the picturesque sights of East Anglia begins in the Norfolk village of Heydon, which doubled as the eponymous fictional town in the short-lived Anglia Television serial 'Weavers Green'. From there he visits the Cley Windmill, the autumn leaves in Norwich's Earlham Park, the Kentford Grave and through the 'gates of wisdom' at St Johns College Cambridge to the Bridge of Sighs. Also in Cambridge, he visits the American War Cemetery and Memorial. Heading to Essex, Scott visits the villages of Wendens Ambo, Chishill (where we see Chishill Mill, although the filmmaker's intertitle mistakenly recognises it as Chrishall Mill. Chrishall Mill was, in fact, demolished circa 1890), Great Bardfield and Finchingfield, witnesses a Hertfordshire Foxhounds meet, and travels to Gestingthorpe, where St Mary the Virgin Church houses a monument to Captain Lawrence Oates, a member of Scott's ill-fated expedition to the South Pole. From there, Scott heads to Birdbrook in Essex, and the Suffolk villages of Cavendish and Long Melford, home to the grand 'wool church' of Holy Trinity. At Melford Hall, Scott attends the 1973 Sudbury Mammoth Olde Tyme Rallye, which features bell ringing demonstrations and a horse cart rally. A visit to the Suffolk villages of Lavenham, Chelsworth and Kersey follows, as well as a procession through Colchester. Taking in various sights across Norfolk and Suffolk, Scott visits Harwich Quay, Blickling Hall, the Broads, Yarmouth harbour, and Horstead Mill on the River Bure. A quick trip over the border to the tulip farms of Holland, Lincolnshire is followed by visits to the House in the Clouds at Thorpeness and the cliffs of Hunstanton. An extended sequence depicts the working life of the Yarmouth docks during fishing season, as men bring their catches ashore as the women gut and sort. From there, Scott heads to a traction engine rally at Woodton Old Hall, and contrasts the regions 'old cities' (Norwich) and 'new towns' (Harlow), before finishing his journey at Southwold in Suffolk, where the lighthouse towers over the town as the sun sets over East Anglia.
