Detailed coverage of the massive structure and complex mechanism of a railway lifting bridge. Barges, ships and tugs pass under and a train travels over. Personnel are shown briefly but the film concentrates mainly on the machinery. Coverage includes shots from the topmost part of span and from railbed level.
