The Girl from Willow Green
1975
Cat no. 4003
Drama. A man offers a young woman a lift, only to discover later that she went missing two years ago.
A motorist (Jim) offers a lift to a young woman (Penny) waiting at a bus stop on a country road. She accepts and he drops her off close to her home. Jim does not know Penny as he has only been living in the area for a few months. Jim asks if he may see her again and Penny gives him her home telephone number, ‘Willow Green 235’. Jim telephones Penny at home and arranges to meet her next Sunday. Jim waits for Penny at the agreed meeting point but she does not show. Finding out where Penny lives, Jim goes to her home, where he meets her parents. They inform him that ‘Penelope’, their only child, disappeared two years ago. She went out for a walk and never returned. They subsequently disconnected the telephone. After leaving the house, Jim passes the bus stop where he met Penny. Penny is there, in the same place as before. Jim stops his car and offers Penny a lift.
