Reign of the Tigers
1985
Cat no. 3792
A war game played by children becomes chillingly realistic.
Three children, two boys and a girl, play a war game in the woods, using sticks as guns and imaginary munitions. Calling themselves the Tigers, they have established a base camp in a tree house. A boy, Boris, seeks to join them but he is rebuffed. The three leave their base. On returning, one of them suspects that the tree house has been raided and their suspicions fall on Boris. The children set out to find him. They locate Boris in the woods with three other children. When Boris’ comrades leave, the three capture him and prepare to assassinate him with an imaginary hand gun. His scream alerts his comrades, who return to the spot where they left Boris. A ‘gun fight’ ensues between the rival gangs. Boris shoots one of the Tigers and then is gunned down himself. At the end, all the Tigers and their adversaries lie dead.
