A summary of the stages in the physical development of locusts.

Film detailing stages in the life-cycle of locusts. Shot at the Anti-Locust Research Centre (now part of the Natural Resources Institute) in London, the film traces the development of locust from egg to fully grown insect. Sequences include: locusts in a cage eating; a study of locust flight involving gluing a hook to the exoskeleton of a locust; locusts mating; locust eggs, in the form of a tubular egg pod, being extracted from a jar containing sand; close shots of locusts at different stages of development, from nymph (after hatching) through its hopper stage; locust shedding its skin in its final malt stage; fully grown locust and mature locusts mating. There are close shots of locusts at different stages of their life-cycle, preceded by a diagram illustrating the growth and the stage of development.
