A documentary of the restored Virginian town.
After opening with a woman reading a 1937 National Geographic account of John Davison Rockefeller Jr's funding of the Williamsburg restoration - featuring stills of period-costumed tableaux - a tour of the town begins, with full historical detail in the commentary: we see a horse-drawn carriage, then the Governor's Palace and gardens. Next up is Bruton Parish Church. At the College of William and Mary, a freshman girl follows tradition and curtsies to a statue. A group gathers for a commencement-time marriage at Wren Chapel. Finally we see the Academic Society building, the magazine and guard house, a public gaol, shops with picture signs and the Capitol building.
