Action from an East Anglian speedway bout between Ipswich and Norwich begins spectacularly, as a race start is marred by a nasty accident. Throttling hard as the raising of the start rope, Billy Bales flips his bike, landing heavily on his back. Race officials rush to clear the circuit, but the race is stopped as first aid is administered and Bales is carried out of the auditorium on a stretcher. The racing must continue, however, and the next race gets underway without incident, as four riders battle for top honours. Rider no. 1 passes the chequered flag first, as Norwich win the evening with a point's score of 54-36.
