Background Information

The Prunier Trophy was awarded 1936 - 1966. It was established by Madame Simone Prunier, restaurateur, who was aware of the decline of the herring industry of Suffolk and Norfolk. The trophy was awarded to the drifter which netted the highest crannage of herring in one shot, in one night. The trophy was awarded annually and the winners also won a cash prize and a trip to London.
