[Gorleston F.C. Resigns from Eastern Counties League]

1959 , Gorleston-on-Sea (Norfolk)

Anglia Television report on the financial problems at Gorleston Football Club.

Having recently announced that the club would withdraw from the Eastern Counties League and rejoin the Norfolk and Suffolk League, a club official from Gorleston Football Club speaks to Anglia Television. According to the official, despite having won the league a few years earlier, low attendances have resulted in budget cuts, and sparked a decision to return to the Norfolk and Suffolk League with a team of local amateurs. Former professional footballer and club manager 'Sailor' Brown considers the club's prospects in the lower league, citing the associated lower expenses as a good reason to resign from Eastern Counties.
