Join us for a spook-tacular afternoon of eerie entertainment as EAFA presents a Halloween screening celebrating amateur fiction filmmaking with a deliciously dark twist.
These films are made by horror lovers who turned their passion into spine-tingling stories on screen. Expect reincarnated felines, monstrous transformations, and satanic strongholds. From low-budget brilliance to imaginative storytelling, this programme showcases the creative spirit of amateur filmmakers who dared to explore the macabre.
You’ll have a fang-tastic time – don’t miss it!
🧛What to Expect
Presented by Dr Nick Warr, EAFA’s Academic Director, each film will be introduced with insights into the archive and the filmmakers behind the madness.
Please note the new venue location for this film screening : The descent into darkness will take place at the University of East Anglia’s Julian Study Centre (Floor 0, Lecture Theatre 01).
The venue is fully accessible and refreshments will be available to purchase at Café 57, located in the large foyer of the Julian Study Centre.

🎃 Make a Day of It – Explore More at UEA
Why not extend your visit and explore The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. SCVA is just a few minutes’ walk away, with easy access to their sculpture trail. The Centre’s Autumn season exhibition Can We Stop Killing Each Other? explores humanity’s relationship with violence and the cultural responses to it through art, film, TV and theatre.
It’s a powerful complement to our Halloween screening, and a chance to reflect on how fiction and creativity help us confront darker truths.
🎟️ Entry to the sculpture trail is free, and exhibition tickets are available via the SCVA website
